Alfonso Ayonayon Labiano Sr., 96, of Pahoa died Aug. 9, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born June 18, 1918, in San Clemente Tarlac, Philippines, he was a retired laborer for Puna Sugar Plantation and a member of the Church of Christ – Iglesia Ni Cristo in Keaau.

Charlene Fay Andresen, 55, of Pahoa died July 17, 2014, at Hilo Medical Center. Born Feb. 13, 1959, in Oregon, she was a waitress.

Murray Pratt
Murray A. Pratt, 89, of Papaikou died Aug. 3, 2014, at Hospice of Hilo’s Pohai Malama Facility. Born April 22, 1925, in Crawfordsville, Ark., he was a former minister and member of the Wainaku and Marshallese Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. He was also a U.S. Army veteran during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War.
Friends may call at 4 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Wainaku Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 455 Kulana Rd. in Paukaa for a 5 p.m. service. Family requests casual attire be worn and no flowers.

Thomas Luis Segovia, Sr., 78, of Waimea died July 27, 2014, at the family residence in Enchanted Lakes, Oahu. Born in Kakaako, Oahu, he was a retired heavy equipment operator and welder.

Manuel “Moon” Marques, 92, of Pahala died Aug. 5, 2014, at his residence. Born March 31, 1922, at Pahala Portuguese Camp, he was a retired crane operator and harvesting foreman with 50 years of service at Ka’u Sugar Plantation Company. He was also the owner and operator of Naalehu Macadamia Nut Farm and a member of Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Chiyoko Mizoshiri, 85, of Kailua-Kona died July 15, 2015, at Kona Community Hospital. Born Aug. 16, 1928, in Hilo, she was a homemaker. Private services were held. Family requests no flowers or monetary offerings.
She is survived by sons, Glenn Mizoshiri of Kealakekua, Dane Mizoshiri of Honolulu, Brian (Lori Ann) Mizoshiri of Waipahu, Oahu; brother, Ralph Honda of San Jose, Calif.; sisters, Edith Bradway of Downey, Calif, Hazel Miyahira of Gardena, Calif.; two grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Joseph Victor “Joe” Santos, 88, of Honokaa died Aug. 12, 2014, at his residence. Born on July 28, 1926, in Honokaa, he was employed by Hamakua Sugar Plantation, worked as a plumber at Sea Life Park in Oahu and for Dough &Delace Company. He also was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa.

James Gregory
James Francis Gregory, 90, of Kailua-Kona died Aug. 14, 2014, at his residence. Born on July 22, 1924, in Chicago, he was a retired real estate broker, a decorated U.S. Army war hero who fought in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II and was a recipient of two Silver Stars, two Purple Hearts, and Bronze Stars.
Friends may call at 9 a.m. Aug. 22 at West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery in Kailua-Kona for a graveside service and burial with military honors.
He is survived by wife, Joyce Gregory of Kailua-Kona; sons, Jeffrey Gregory of Stuart, Fla., J. Douglas Gregory of Hilo, Stuart Gregory of Mountain View, and Craig Schade of Heber City, Utah; daughter, Wendy Hewlett of Maui; 10 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one niece.

Brother Harlan Edward Kalles, 86, of Hilo died Aug. 2, 2014, at home. Born in Payallup, Wash., he was the senior pastor at Family Christian Center in Hilo.
